LKI Senior Research Fellows attend the Roundtable on “Rupee to Rupee Strengthening the India-Sri Lanka Commercial Corridor”

Senior Research Fellows Ms. Madhuka Rukmalgama, Ms. Piyumani Ranasinghe, and Ms. Nillasi Liyanage attended the Roundtable discussion on “Rupee-to-Rupee: Strengthening the India–Sri Lanka Commercial Corridor”, representing Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute (LKI).

This event focused on the promotion of the use of the Indian Rupee (INR) and the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR) in bilateral trade and financial transactions.

The main objective of the round table was to enhance the economic and trade cooperation between India and Sri Lanka through high economic and financial floatability, smoother trade and investment process and reduction in cost of transactions.

Held on 15 June 2026 at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo, the roundtable brought together representatives from the banking sector, the business community, policy makers and researchers from both countries.
