LKI Roundtable Discussion on ‘British – Sri Lanka Relations: Current Trends and Shared Futures’.

The Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKI)
hosted a closed-door roundtable discussion with H.E. Andrew Patrick, the British High
Commissioner to Sri Lanka on 12 March 2026.
The Discussion was titled “British–Sri Lanka Relations: Current Trends and Shared
Futures” and held under the Chatham House rules, thus providing a platform for a confidential
and candid exchange of views, and encouraging open and constructive dialogue on contemporary
developments shaping the British–Sri Lanka relationship. The discussion brought together
representatives from the diplomatic, policy, and academic communities to raise shared issues
from varied perspectives and fields of expertise.
The discussion was chaired by Dr. Nishara Mendis, Executive Director of LKI, with the
participation of Members of the LKI Board of Management, Officials from the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and representatives of Sri Lanka’s policy and academic community.
