On 1 July 2026, the team from the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKIIRSS) visited the Port City Colombo Sales Gallery, marking the Institute’s first field visit in 2026.
The objective of this visit was to gain insights into the Port City Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and to leverage its capacity to enhance Sri Lanka’s economic growth. The experience provided insights into the unique opportunities available to investors, international organisations and enterprises. The discussion also focused on utilising Port City Colombo in a strategic manner to allow businesses to maintain undisturbed operations, even amidst major geopolitical disruptions.
The LKIIRSS delegation comprised of LKIIRSS Board Member Rear Admiral (Retd.) Y. N. Jayarathna, Senior Research Fellows Ms. Nillasi Liyanage, Ms. Piyumani Ranasinghe, and Ms. Madhuka Rukmalgama, alongside the LKIIRSS Interns. The delegation was received by Mr. Thulci Aluwihare, Deputy Managing Director of CHEC Port City Colombo (Pvt) Ltd, alongside several other representatives who participated in the session.
