Internships (Research)

LKI offers internships to undergraduates and young professionals with a strong interest in international relations and foreign policy-related research. Interns support the institute’s work across research, communications, and administrative functions, contributing to high-quality research and the organisation of diplomatic and academic events.
The internship provides an opportunity to:
• Build a research and publication record
• Gain practical experience in international affairs and foreign policy
• Learn from professionals working in the policy and diplomatic space
Applicants must:
• Be a current undergraduate or recent graduate in a relevant discipline, such as:
• International Relations
• Economics
• Law
• Strategic Studies
• or another related field
• Have a strong interest in current affairs in Sri Lanka and internationally
• Be motivated to contribute to high-quality research and work with a diverse team
Duration:
• Initial internship period: 3 months
• Extension of up to an additional 3 months, subject to a performance review
• Applicants must indicate their availability in their motivation letter

• LKI recruits interns on a rolling basis throughout the year
• Applicants should submit:
• A one-page motivation/cover letter outlining suitability and availability
• A CV (maximum 2 pages) including the names and contact details of two non-related referees
• Applications must clearly state the applicant’s academic or professional discipline
