A group of around 15 Master’s students and an Associate Professor from the Global Development and Planning programme of the University of Agder in Norway visited the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKI) on 5th May 2025. The group comprised students from Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, and Uganda.
The University’s Sri Lanka Coordinator, Mr. Ajith Wasantha Liyanage and the student group met with the Executive Director of the LKI, Ambassador Ravinatha Aryasinha, at the LKI Boardroom.
The discussion centred around Sri Lanka’s main foreign policy challenges and also Norway-Sri Lanka relations. The students, who will be spending the next two weeks immersing themselves in the Sri Lankan lifestyle, were also briefed on the changing socio-political dynamics in the country.
Additionally, Ms. Sulochana Wijayasinghe, Research Assistant, provided a brief account of her ongoing research pertaining to the EU GSP+ and its benefits to Sri Lanka. Ms. Madhuka Rukmalgama, Research Assistant, spoke on her research on the Belt and Road Initiative and its impact on Sri Lanka. Ms. Yeshiah Peries, LKI Research Intern and Mr. Adil Nazeem, LKI Research Intern, were also present at the discussion.
