The Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKI) welcomed The Deputy Director General, Mr. Su Zuhui, Research Office of the International Department of Communist Party of China and the members during their visit to Sri Lanka, to the Institute on 2 July 2024. On behalf of the Executive Director, Mr. Nilupul Gunawardena chaired the discussion with the visiting delegation.
Welcoming the delegation, Mr. Nilupul Gunawardena emphasized the long-standing relationship shared between the two countries since the through successive leaders. He also noted Sri Lanka’s historic ties with China dating back to the visit of the Chinese traveler Faxian in 5th century CE. Mr. Su Zuhui stressed on the importance of fostering international collaboration and dialogue, highlighting the need for global Think Tanks to engage in collaborative projects and discussions on contemporary global issues. He also reiterated the need to engage in sharing of views on China – Sri Lanka relations and developments within the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) framework.
