The Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKIIRSS) hosted an interactive teaching session titled “Foreign Policy of Sri Lanka”, conducted by Dr. George I. H. Cooke, on Friday, 19 December 2025, at the Lighthouse Auditorium, Colombo 07.

The session was designed to bridge theoretical learning with practical, policy-oriented insights for third-year undergraduate students from the Department of Public Policy, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Ruhuna. It addressed a key component of the students’ academic curriculum, providing them with a deeper understanding of the historical evolution, strategic considerations, and contemporary dynamics shaping Sri Lanka’s foreign policy.

Following the interactive session, students participated in educational visits to the Bandaranaike Memorial Museum and Independence Square, aimed at enhancing their understanding of Sri Lanka’s post-colonial political history and its relevance to the country’s foreign policy trajectory.

This initiative was organized as part of LKIIRSS’s continued commitment to Social Responsibility and Sustainability, through which the Institute seeks to support university students by facilitating access to knowledge, experts, and policy-oriented discussions, while fostering critical engagement with national and international issues.

LKIIRSS extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. George I. H. Cooke for generously volunteering his time and expertise to engage with the undergraduate students of the University of Ruhuna. His commitment to mentoring young scholars and supporting academic development contributed significantly to the success of the session.

LKIIRSS researchers Madhuka Rukmalgama and Sulochana Wijayasinghe, along with LKIIRSS interns Yeshiah Peries, Pawani Harshika Dilrukshi, Aakil Riyaz, and Vinura Gamage, were also present at the event.
