LKI’s Executive Director Amb. Ravinatha Aryasinha welcomed H.E. Indra Mani Pandey, the Secretary General of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) to the Institute on Tuesday 9 April 2024 during his inaugural visit to Sri Lanka.
A bilateral discussion took place during which a range of topics were discussed, including the role of BIMSTEC and the need to popularise its importance.
Besides hosting the Secretary-General for a Guest Lecture and Interactive Session, as the Sri Lankan focal point of the BIMSTEC Network of Policy Think Tanks, the LKI expressed its intention to extend support towards future collaboration with BIMSTEC. Furthermore, special emphasis will be placed on the thematic domain of science, technology and innovation which is Sri Lanka’s focussed area of responsibility within BIMSTEC.
