On Thursday 26th October, Michael Iveson, Research Fellow (Global Economy) and Timothy Shankar, Research Intern, visited the World Bank to discuss the outcomes of Michael’s recent publication titled: ‘Debt-for-Renewables’ Swaps: How to Address Climate, Debt and Energy Sector Vulnerabilities in Sri Lanka.
Michael and Timothy met with Mr Joao Morgado and Mr Richard Walker, Economists in the Macroeconomics, Trade & Investment team at the World Bank, to discuss the potential of climate finance instruments for climate change mitigation and adaptation investments in Sri Lanka. LKI and the World Bank also explored other areas of collaborative research to support the development of climate finance in Sri Lanka, which aims to inform the Climate Change Development Report (CCDR) produced by the World Bank.
