The Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKI) recently hosted an academic discussion with a delegation from the Counsellors’ Office of the State Council, on China-Sri Lanka bilateral relations. The delegation was headed by Dr. Fang Ning, State Counsellor and former Vice Chairman of the Counsellors’ Office of the State Council; and Prof. Deng Xiaonan, State Counsellor and Dean of Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, Peking University.
The delegation included Ms. Gong Yingqiu, Vice Consultant, Department of International Exchanges and Cooperation, and Mr. Zhang Zuguang, Project Official of the Counsellor-Service Department from the Counsellors’ Office of the State Council; and Mr. Luo Chong, Chief of the Political Section, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka.
The discussion focused on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), China-Sri Lanka cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges between China and Sri Lanka.
The meeting was chaired by LKI’s Executive Director, Dr. Ganeshan Wignaraja. Radhika de Silva, Deputy Director, and Divya Hundlani, Research Fellow also participated in the discussion.
