Executive Director of the LKI Ambassador Ravinatha Aryasinha met with the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Sri Lanka and the Maldives H.E. Carmen Moreno at the Embassy of the European Union to Sri Lanka and the Maldives on 11 September 2024.
Amb. Aryasinha and Amb. Moreno discussed developments in the EU following the recent election of the new EU Parliament, its future agenda including the review of the GSP+ regulation, EU-Sri Lanka relations, EU engagement on maritime security in the Indian Ocean region particularly regarding non-traditional security threats, as well as increased EU collaboration with the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) of which the EU recently became a ‘Dialogue Partner’.
Mr. Lars Bredal, Deputy Head of Delegation of the European Union to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Ms. Caroline Lopes, Political Officer of the European Union to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, Mr. Mihin Perera and Ms. Sulochana Wijesinghe, Research Assistants of the LKI also participated in the discussion.
