Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath announces ‘Action Task Force’ to tackle tariff challenges

The Government has set up an Action Task Force to tackle the global challenges arising from new tariff policies introduced recently by the United States, Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath told Parliament during the Foreign Ministry vote on the 2025 Budget Debate held on 15 March 2025.

The Minister said, the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKI), an institution affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has brought together academics, professionals, and industry leaders to formulate a strategic approach to addressing the new US tariffs.
