Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colombage appointed Secretary to the Foreign Ministry

Former Navy Commander, and the Additional Secretary to  H.E President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Foreign Relations, Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colombage has been appointed the Secretary to the Foreign Ministry.

Admiral Colombage who had served the Sri Lanka Navy for 36 years was its 18th Commander. He was appointed Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy in 2012.

Upon his retirement, he served as the Director of the Centre for India-Sri Lanka Initiatives and Law of the Sea Centre at the Pathfinder Foundation.

At the time of his appointment as Foreign Secretary, he was the Additional Secretary to the President on Foreign Relations and the Director General of the Institute of National Security Studies Sri Lanka (INSSSL)

Admiral Prof. Colombage holds a PhD from General Sir John Kotalawela University, Master of Science in Defence and Strategic Studies from Madras University and Master of Arts in International Studies from Kings College, London.
