The Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKI) hosted a visit to LKI by H.E. Hashem Ashjazadeh, Ambassador, Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Amb. Hashem Ashjazadeh was also joined by Mr S. Mostafa Hashemi, Chief of Political Section, Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. 

LKI’s Executive Director, Amb. Dayantha Laksiri Mendis, engaged in a wide-ranging discussion with Ambassador Ashjazadeh on furthering Sri Lanka – Iran trade relations. Further, they also had a fruitful discussion on the future of the Iran Nuclear deal. The group also deliberated over establishing academic ties between LKI and similar Iranian institutions and think tanks to ensure knowledge sharing and increased cooperation among the two countries.
