On 08 May 2025, the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKI) welcomed a nine-member delegation from Pakistan’s National Defence University (NDU). The visiting group comprised senior military officials, including one foreign national.
The delegation was received by LKI Executive Director, Ambassador Ravinatha Aryasinha, at the LKI Boardroom. Following his opening remarks, the delegation participated in an interactive discussion focused on Sri Lanka–Pakistan relations, as well as regional security and stability in South Asia. Topics related to Sri Lanka’s foreign policy were also discussed.
Additionally, Ms. Madhuka Rukmalgama, Research Assistant at LKI, presented a brief overview of her research on Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) 2.0 and its implications for developing countries, including Sri Lanka.
Ms. Sulochana Wijayasinghe, LKI Research Assistant, and Mr. Adil Nazeem, LKI Research Intern, were also present at the discussion. This visit reflects the continued cooperation and dialogue between Sri Lanka and Pakistan on regional and strategic affairs.
