We refer to the article in Ceylon Today of 24 November 2018, entitled “Act Now Forum – LKI Rejected Booking at the Last Minute,” regarding the booking inquiry for this event.
The Lighthouse Auditorium at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute of International Relations and Strategic Studies (LKI) premises is available for occasional hire by outside parties at LKI’s discretion. Since 1 September 2018, the Lighthouse Auditorium has been available to outside parties for academic, corporate and social events.
The Lighthouse Auditorium reservation form states that those booking the venue are required to refer to it as the ‘Lighthouse Auditorium’ in promotional material so as not to confuse outside party events with any events organised by the foreign policy think tank.
In the particular instance referred to in your article, an inquiry was made from the Act Now Forum but the booking was not confirmed and no deposit was received. However, the event’s promotional material distributed before LKI’s confirmation, incorrectly referred to the venue as LKI.
