Sri Lanka celebrates Independence Day
The official independence day ceremony, marking 68 years of independence, was held yesterday morning at the Galle Face Green.
Speaking at the event, President Maithripala Sirisena, stated that the government seeks to resolve issues prevalent since independence, as well as since the end of the war.

Obama seeks aid from Congress for resolution of Colombian conflict
Obama pledged that he would request the United States Congress for over $450 million, in order to put an end to Colombia’s fifty year-long civil conflict.
Upon approval, the aid would be directed at measures against the drug trade, security, and the education and rehabilitation of militants.
